Amazing place! I have been clean and sober for over 7 months now. My time at Schick Shadel was exactly what I needed to overcome my alcohol addiction. I have had ZERO cravings since I left Shick. I've lost 50lbs and am healthier than ever.

Couldn’t have quit without this. I tried for years. The monkey on my back always made me drink again within a week. This place takes the monkey off your back! Best decision I ever made was going to Schick. Ten tough days gives you back your life. I will scream this places praises for the rest of my life! Retake the control you lost years ago! Almost 17 months sober for me!

This year I have my 40th anniversary of sobriety! I was inpatient at SS and it was the toughest program! The support, love, clarity I left with enabled me to stay sober all these years. I continue to share my "story" with others and continue as well to sing high praises for the staff at the time and the restoration of my life! One second, one minute, one hour at a time continues to give me a sober happy life. Victoria Townsley

Still sober after 5 years. It won't work if you don't believe or want the change, nothing will. This was my last resort and I owe it to MYSELF and Schick for helping me through this!

I went through this program and the aversion therapy was very successful. I am confident I can walk through the doors with a life of sobriety in front of me. I went through 3 treatment centers before this and will say this is the best place. This place changes lives! Most of the staff was great, and the food was excellent. There was one nurse named who snapped at me serval times when I wasn’t doing anything wrong and always made me feel like I was a nuisance when I asked questions. Which I was told to ask if I was unsure of something. I also heard her once bickering with another nurse which I thought was unprofessional. Other than her everyone was great even the cooks made a great impact on me.

Absolutely amazing place. Saved my life. It works if you want it to!!! Staff was all very kind and caring, never seemed bothered and always were there to help with anything. Rooms were always clean and modern, beds changed daily. Showers clean. Having your phone/laptop/tablet and TV helps too, so you don't feel so cut off from the outside world. Special shout-out to JJ!!! And to the kitchen staff, Moses and the older white lady I can't remember her name. Didn't have one meal I didn't like and when the menu option doesn't seem appealing, they will make almost ANYTHING you want!! The bacon cheeseburger is always available and oh Lord, it was like an orgasm in my mouth. Pat O'Day came to speak to us and was very inspirational. Absolutely zero complaints here. Everything so organized and everyone so friendly. They want what's best for you and won't guilt you or try and tell you addiction is your fault. It's a disease. Anyone with addiction issues go to Schick!!!

This place is what it bills itself as: a hospital. I needed hospital care to detox before any treatment sessions were contemplated. Still focusing only on the medically assisted detox portion of the program the on site doctor is more than willing to prescribe detox medicines. A 24 hour medical staff will attend to you to be physically well. Only then will you attend the actual treatment phase of the program. After your entire time here you will be only at the beginning of full recovery. I was told by the counselor, and I quote, this program is not the magic bullet. Expect only %5 of your recovery to take place here.

I went to Schick shadel and I loved it! Staff was friendly, food was amazing. You were treated like an adult with respect! Unfortunately I tested the system and I'm using worse then ever and its not at all because Schick didn't work for me but because I decided to test the system. I really wish that I could go back! I would give anything to go back but I have no insurance at all and don't have the money! But it is not a waste of money just wish I could have 1 more opportunity to go to Schick!

It's too bad about the negative reviews. I went to Schick almost five years ago for alcohol aversion therapy and it worked as advertised for me. If they are still performing the same treatment process, then I'd say it's your best shot at putting down the bottle for good. The process fit into my professional schedule perfectly and I was able to get on with my life. If you're looking for a place to simply appease your loved one's requests, I suggest a nice inpatient facility for a thirty day vacation from the real world and the mess you wish you could leave behind. If you want to quit drinking, go to Schick. You aren't powerless over anything. See you at the finish line.

The day after he got home from the program we went shopping. I asked him when we got home if it bothered him to be in the beer isle. He replied that he wasn't. I told him, you know when you were picking out potato chips? You were in the beer isle, your back was to it. Amazingly, beer never crossed his mind as even being sold there. That's huge! He has 0 cravings or thoughts of alcohol or majuana. He has been in and out of several 12 steps. One was even a year long inpatient program. That's all over now. There are NO cravings

I was there just for detox. Most of the staff were great, but there were a couple things, that were very unprofessional. As I was being checked in, the nurses were bickering back and forth about work drama... and the last thing... was the head nurse who gave me my TB test, didn't even alcohol swab my arm. Now I have to get that checked out. But beds were comfortable, they keep you highly medicated and... the food was surprisingly amazing!!

My husband went to Schick Shadel Hospital. It saved his life and our marriage. The program and staff are nothing short of a miracle.

I think it's sad that those who have little financial ability can't afford this kind of treatment because Medicaid isn't excepted.

I went here. I believe in the system. They are not magicians, you still have to want to quit. You cant just send your son/daughter/relative/friend here and expect a miracle cure if they are not ready to quit. If you are truly ready for change, Shick can help you get rid of the cravings. Some of the other reviews I'm reading.. wow. If thats your mindset, it's no wonder it did not work for you. No magic here. Shick can only help you help yourself....
